At A.F.F.A.B.Elle our goals are simple: Provide the local community with affordable, fresh and locally sourced food while reducing the volume of food being wasted in people's homes.
We aim to achieve this goal by selling food in individual portions at sizes recommended in the Government guidelines. For protein, the Government guidelines specify that daily, as part of a balanced diet, 56g of meat is sufficient for the average adult male.
According to supermarkets and some meat suppliers most people eat around 3 times this amount so we're reducing our portions more closely inline with healthy recommendations.
The meat we sell comes in 75g portions, which we hope will encourage households to not only eat healthier, but also, cut down on what gets thrown in the bin, reducing the volume of household waste one meal at a time.
In terms of affordability, A.F.F.A.B.Elle is a CIC (Community Interest Company), which means we've got the community at the heart of everything we do. Meat is expensive, there's no denying it, so we're working with local suppliers, other non-profit organisations, the council and local governments to be able to keep our prices low while still being able to offer quality produce.
